The Town Church

When we install technology or update sound systems for places of worship, it’s always important to us that our systems are ‘heard but not seen’.

This particular project for St Helier’s Town Church called for some clever bits of kit to ensure the audiovisual experience was effective, but also unobtrusive and aesthetically pleasing. We rigged the three-metre main projection screen on an electric winch system so it could be raised seven metres to disappear behind the front arch when not in use. The Sanyo PLC-XU106 projector (with corner keystone control) is hidden behind the transept arch.

The new QSC speakers run from an Allen & Heath iDR8 Digital Mixer, allowing for simple volume control anywhere in the church via CAT 5. Shure was the brand of choice for all the microphones - pulpit, lectern, choir and radiomics.

"From the very beginning of this complex project Commercial Electronics have been personable, professional and dedicated. The after-care especially has been superb, as they have worked with us tirelessly to ensure the finished job is of the highest quality."
